Daihatsu Cuore PARTS- ABS CONTROL UNIT

Abs control unit:
The antilock brake system is the brain behind the operation. The sensors located at the wheels will pick up and transmit to the abs control unit how much hydraulic pressure is needed on each wheel and it decreases or enhances that pressure as needed. It is just like pumping the brake pedal only at a much faster rate. The main purpose of the control unit is actually that helps to maintain the control of your car in slippery road conditions.
Basic description and function of an Abs control unit:
The control unit of the abs consists of three microcomputers. Two of them function as working processors, the third one as a watchdog processor. The system switches off if there is a discrepancy in the data computed by the two working processors during operation of the car. The abs check control light will start to blink thus reading the fault. At this time the braking system is fully operational however without the abs control unit.
When turning the ignition switch to the on position, the amber BRAKE, ANTILOCK or ABS lig.
Abs Sensors:
The abs sensors are the sensors connected to your rear wheels and are the mini computers that tell how much pressure is applied to the braking system and are used to measure and compare tire rotational speeds .Your car may be fitted with 2 for your rear wheels. If this is the case and you d have a fault with your abs system, it will be encoded and will transmit possible faults.
When do you need to replace abs sensors? Since sensors and reluctor wheels work together, and commonly on the front axle is where they attract a considerable quantity of brake dust shed by the front callipers. Heat transform this thin dust into a carbon like coating which “delays” the reading made by the sensor by minutes, hence the interpreting by the abs computer of these delays as a continuous difference in rotational speeds between one or more tires -- eventually exceeding a threshold value and triggering a "fault" light. The obvious solution at this point is to take the sensors out and clean them for function. However they are very fragile and it is easy to produce damage in this process. Hence the clear solution is replacement.
Abs pumps and modulators:
The ABS pump is the one component that helps stabilize the pressure in an ABS system. Most cars need to be "de-pressurized". There are a few cars out there that have the master cylinder/hydro-boost/ABS pump as a unit. Historic Between 1984-1991 all cars that had an ABS system did not have a diagnose system. In other words once a problem was signalled by the intermittent light it was not pointed as well. The only way to stop the warning light beaming was to disconnect the battery. After 1992 technology made it possible and cars were fitted with under hood diagnostic units. The driver had to simply turn the ignition switch on to KPII and leave the engine off, look under the hood to locate the Diagnostic Link Connector boxes and half of the job was done with maximum precision. All he had to do was refer to a manual to read the code and he could tell what the malfunction was.

Low battery charge - A low charge can interfere with the operation of the anti-lock control electronics. • Blown fuses - Check the brake control module fuse, main relay fuse and pump motor fuse. • Corroded/loose connectors - The main relay, fluid level sensor and control module connectors all must be tight and correctly installed. • Water intrusion - The most common causes of excessive harness resistance are water intrusion and corrosion at the sensor to main wiring harness connector. Water intrusion can occur at the sensor can or at the harness connector. • Bad grounds - Check body grounds, especially on the modulator and ABS module.
Abs Ecu:
You have noticed that your ABS warning light REMAINS ON after switching on ignition - most usually there is a history of the ABS light operating intermittently for some time. This means the ABS system has switched off and the automatic antilock function is NOT operating although the brakes remain effective. When the lights are on your ABS ECU has detected a fault. To establish the fault you will have to read the logged fault. There are two common ways to do this. The first is to use a TECH1 reader which is an expensive bit of equipment. Another way is to use a paper clip and is completely free and accurate. Use the paperclip to short out the two pins in the ALDL connector (blue test connector located in the engine bay at the back or near the fuse box) and than create read the chart created by the amount of flashes and pauses. Most experienced drivers will say that ECUs are usually not faulty, but they do fail occasionally. They are the tom tom of ABS, as they can locate a fault so you might consider being lost without them. The ABS ECU is dependent of the engine, so your car will have one most probably, unless it is a very old car. We can supply exchange engine management systems (ecu`s) for all cars and car parts that are dependent to an abs ecu (throttlebody, air flow meter, roof control ECU, pump and system etc).So make the best out of technology to take the best out of driving and be aware of your car. The team at here will browse for you and make sure to get you the best deal in the shortest time.
